Eurotink signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Municipality of Gostivar today, starting the implementation of the project “Through local councils for prevention towards improved cooperation”. Gostivar is one of the three municipalities, selected through a public call, in which activities will be implemented to strengthen the functionality of the local prevention councils (LPC). At the meeting held with the mayor Arben Taravari, the upcoming activities aimed at increasing partnership with the local community were discussed.
LPC is a body for joint action of stakeholders and relevant actors in the areas of security, communal-infrastructural and social-cultural character. It is a tool that leads to maintaining public safety, building trust and cooperation in the prevention of security problems, as well as organizing other forms of citizen involvement in identifying local problems and developing applicable solutions. The main goal is to encourage a process of cooperation between the municipality, the police and the citizens, through which participatory decision-making in the police will be promoted, with the aim of quality implementation of the concept of community policing.
The project is supported by the Embassy of the United States of America in Skopje, through the “Small Democratic Grants” program.
